Our Craft Beers
Our History, Pride and Joy….
Brew 42 started way back in May 2005, on a property in Allanson, south of Perth, just outside Collie. The three original brewers were all neighbours working shift work and had time to kill during the day.
It all started out with just being a hobby and the love of beer and grew into creating six unique tasting beers, selling to local festivals and co-workers, with three taking out bronze at the Melbourne International Beer Awards.
In 2010 two of the three brewers retired and sold their interest to Graeme Sellers. Graeme and Andrew took Brew 42 to Lake Clifton Tavern. From 2010 till 2012 Graeme ran the Lake Clifton Tavern selling only Brew 42 craft beers on tap with major success and excellent feedback from local patrons and visitors.
In May 2016 the renovation on the property at 518 Great Northern Highway started. In 2017 Graeme and Andrew parted and the 2/3 share of equipment came up to the Swan Valley which will become the new home of Swan Valley Brewery.
Our focus is on traditional Irish and English style ales
All our beers are made from the highest quality malts, hops and yeast using the full mash-in process. No malt extracts, chemicals, preservatives or artificial flavourings are used in any of the brewing processes. Our beers are not filtered they are simply made with patience, allowing time for the beer to settle-out prior to kegging or bottling.
All our beers will be on tap with the exception of our Cider and ginger beer from Outback Brewery in Chittering.
Bucks Bitter
Pale Ale designed to appeal to the palate of the beer lovers that are used to Australian style lagers. It is light in colour with a simple malt profile moderately hopped with a combination of different hops, including the Australian classic Pride of Ringwood.
Redtale
Irish style red ale made from organic hops. It is a very well balanced ale which is moderately hopped. Redtale is a full creamy beer and is proving to be very popular. Conditioned and served on “multi–mix” gas (70% nitrogen and 30% carbon dioxide). Redtale takes its name from the Red Tail Cockatoo which are found locally here in Western Australia.
Powerhouse Pale Ale
True character beer of the of the Indian Pale Ale variety. It is heavily hopped with imported New Zealand hop. It has a more complex malt profile than Bucks Bitter with crystal malt being used in the mash. As a result, a dark colour with a touch of residual sweetness is imparted into the beer providing a balance to the bitterness of the hops.
Moorhead Stout
Irish cream stout lightly hopped with a complex malt profile leaving hints of coffee and chocolate on the palate. It too, is conditioned and served on “multi-mix” gas resulting in a rich creamy head and full-bodied flavour.
SVB Lager
a genuine European style Pilsner Lager. It is brewed and fermented out in the time honoured low temperature lagering process. It is light in colour with strong hop bouquet and is an ideal summer beer.
Sauvignon Plonk
a beer made with New Zealand Savin hops, imparting a characteristic citrus and fruity aroma to this beer of refreshing refreshment.
